I think you can clearly see that with all popular franchises. I mean just take a look at Maya the Bee. I grew up with the traditonal animation and nowadays everything is CGI. I know it‘s not the same as a big online game and a mobile game but back then, passion was the main focus, nowadays it‘s just milking the franchise and getting every cent out of it. I mean, sure. If you‘re a developer for a franchise, this is your job. You earn money though that and so on. But it was the same case back then and it wasn‘t just money but having a vision and transfer that to the audience. Btw. don‘t get me wrong CGI isn‘t the main reason why I think franchises go downhill. Also because it takes much less time. I get that. But it‘s often cheap CGI with not much shading, the pacing is very fast, the colors are too bright and colorful, the stories are lame. That‘s the connection my brain is often doing: Trad. Animation to CGI  Not good.
I still prefer original animation. There sure are good CGI series and stuff but I can‘t think of any.

Btw. unpopular opinion here (maybe) but I feel the exactly same about the Winxclub Reboot ..Oops.. I don‘t know how popular the last seasons were (and the Live Action) since I stopped watching Winxclub after season 4. But I kind of have a feeling the reboot might flop. The animation is top and the transformation but I fear the characters will lack personality or development. Just my prediction here.

It‘s nice to hear that you always have exciting stories to tell. What an honor to be able to talk with the original creators from WA in_love_ It‘s so nice to hear that they were also very passionate about the developing! I really noticed that back then playing WA.

How many languages were it in the end? I think back then everything took much space and people didn‘t know how to save space from developed games
🤔

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, especially about the shift in focus with many franchises. But I don’t necessarily think the fault lies with the transition to CGI. A show can be fully CGI and still be absolutely amazing if the effort is put into the writing and world-building. On the flip side, a 2D-animated series can still end up being lackluster if the heart of the story isn’t there. :( But I do think a lot of franchises are giving up on their animation style, just like Miraculous and even Noddy for example, when they were a part of why it was so loved. People don't generally like change, let alone such a visual and impacful one. :ehmeh::

Regarding the Winx Club reboot, I actually have hopes for it, especially because it seems like they’re leaning heavily on the nostalgia of the older fanbase in their marketing this time and they keep promising a lot of things, for one Nabu is coming back and Roxy is rumored to appear, alongside a few things that really do look like it has potential to work. That gives me a little optimism.
But like you, I really hope they focus on character development and give the Winx more depth. In Season 1 of the original series, the Winx were the plot—their personal growth, their choices, and relationships drove the story forward instead of just being carried by the plot itself. That’s such a key element, and it’s what made the early seasons so memorable. If they can capture that again, I think the reboot has a chance to shine.

Sure! I mean something CGI related that I really did enjoy was Tangled. Love that movie. But series? I don‘t know. Back then I started watching MLB but just for the love story. Also didn’t enjoy the CGI but I had to stay for the tea. To the point where it wasn‘t going forward anymore and I didn’t watch it anymore, I mean how many seasons are there now? Like 5? And Marinette and Adrien still are not together. I get it. It‘s a kids show but aaaaah

So do you have CGI series recommendations? :D

I agree. Changing the artstyle is just a very impactful change for a franchise. But it‘s interesting. I know that MLB was actually supposed to be an anime. At least they had an pilot episode. But never went further with it and decided for CGI. Or am I informed wrong? 🤔

But are they going to make a new story or re–tell the original season 1? I‘m curious of how it‘ll turn out :D

Just a little correction there: Marinette and Adrien are together and season 5 was like a speedrun. Every episode was FILLED with plot. Even though I enjoyed it, way more than any other season, I feel like it was also a little too fast. The development's there and they bring stuff from the first four as little flashbacks here and there, but the first four seasons were snail-paced and season 5 is literally a zebra or chitah :ehmeh::

Still, season 5 of Miraculous would be a good watch for you I'd say. Begin with season 4 episode 25 and 26 and keep going from there, every single episode is a continuation from the past one and the first three episodes of season 5 PLUS a one hour special happens within the same night as season 4 finale, which ended terribly and game-changing.

While this one is heavily dated, I'd recommend Code Lyoko too. I'm actually working on a fan-made continuation of that show. It's a mix between 2D and 3D, being actually a pioneer in shows of that genre. The plot doesn't move much in season 1 but every season after is filled with a lot of lore. It's also very "mature" in both its storytelling, the way the characters act sometimes from the kids to all the adults and the show wasn't afraid to show very complex situations, because it was made in 2003, so TVs didn't take kids for being too slow to understand complex plots.

I think they'll do a "new" story in a way, but still not deviate from season 1 much, it's a reboot, so it will "begin" the story but is allowed to tell it a different way and with new things.

Oh, really? Yeah seems like I missed a lot :ehmeh::
Hm I wonder why it‘s so fast–paced? Maybe budget problems. I don‘t know how popular MLB nowadays is compared to some years ago.

Thanks for the recommendations! I‘ll check them out and update you :D

it's still very and extremely popular tbh, I think they probably just wanted to end the Agreste Arc, there's so much you can do with the same villian until it becomes repetitive. But season 5 was really nice because there were a lot of episodes that felt like any of the prior season finales. I think you'd like it.

juleic1123 wrote:Not sure, I just found that in the middle of my files on my blogger, not even sure if I can find it online anymore

EDIT: Found it here: https://www.winxcluball.com/2012/03/nue ... venta.html with google lens! /houra//

Funnily enough, the magazine was released in March 2012. Less than a month before the closure announcement. :cloud:

And I feel that 100%. Poor russian and dutch websites that had to find the english URL

Thank you
I didn't find this ad in the Russian magazines. Which, of course, isn't surprising, since the game was never officially available in Russian. Though I still wonder why. And it seems like there wasn't a Dutch version of the game either?

Fun fact: back in 2011, when I was just a small silly user, I created a topic with answers to frequently asked questions about WA on a Russian forum. One of the questions was "Will the game appear on the Russian website?" and my answer was "The developers of the Russian website refused to buy the game. So, NO". Aaand I have absolutely no idea where I got that from... :? I doubt I made it up, but maybe someone else made it up, and I believed it for some reason. :? In any case, the wording itself ("the developers of the Russian website"... who?) already sounds strange

By the way, I assume that the only person responsible for the Russian localization of the entire website was our RU moderator. At the very least, judging by her contacts, she was an employee of a company that worked with Rainbow and provided localization and community management services. But now I'm wondering… Why didn't the French forum have a moderator from the very begginning then? And were all moderators initially hired employees from the same outsourcing company as our mod? :? Well, I'm just curious. So many mysteries...

I'm also glad to hear that you spoke with the teams that worked on Winx Adventure. :) However, it's a shame that Rainbow didn't seem to have a clear long-term plan for the website and the game. Or perphaps decided to rapidly change their strategy with the release of Season 5. In any case, it's sad that everything ended like this, without any explanation. I can't even imagine how.. strange this situation must have felt to the game developers.

Actually, this might be surprising to hear, but for everyone, Russian, Turkish and Dutch websites didn't even exist on the website. I found out about it last year when I started working on the minigames. Those languages were "hidden" and only shown to YOU. Users would have to manually change the url to lang 4 (dutch), 5 (russian) and 8 (turkish) to be able to access it and even then, going to another page seems to send you back to the english/your language since through waybackmachine I'm forced back into english if I attempt to click on any page.

For us, the website had: English, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese - in this order. This was the case for all these languages too, I have screenshots of the website in english and spanish with the language selector only showing these languages as well. The waybackmachine version of the website also confirms it, since all the versions of the website saved hide the russian, turkish and dutch lang.

I'll just go ahead and assume the game didn't exist in those languages because it meant not only 3 more versions to update manually (each language of the game was a new game itself, they weren't linked whatsoever) or the devs themselves didn't know about those languagues or had someone to help translate them.

I also don't believe the game was available in turkish now that I'm thinking about it. I remember visiting the WINX ADVENTURE of the turkish forum when I was a kid and only having 2 pages, at the time I found weird since the portuguese forum had like 20. (We had 53 when the subforum closed btw, I saved a picture on its last day :( )

As for the developers, yeah. It's really a shame. :(

I can actually leave the emails here I think. I tried to google both of the developers, but they're off the grid. Their websites and assets are gone from unity store.

TEAM 1 (beta and first year version):
"Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate your interest in the game and your dedication to its remake.

Regarding your request for assistance with the game and missing assets, I regret to inform you that these assets belong to Rainbow Media Pte Ltd, and I am unable to share them. However, I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your project.

For context, this was a social MMO game developed by teams at Rainbow Media Pte Ltd. During my time there as a software engineer intern, I contributed to its development using Unity3D. Although I had no prior experience with the engine, I was able to adapt quickly and contribute meaningfully to the project.

As part of a team of four programmers, working alongside designers and artists, my contributions included:

-Developing a tool that enabled artists to commit assets without breaking the game.
-Creating a dialogue tool to facilitate NPC interactions for designers.
-Debugging the game and resolving tasks assigned via JIRA.
-Implementing gameplay mechanics.

This experience was highly valuable and played a significant role in shaping my approach to game development, particularly in the design of core engines and architecture.

I appreciate your understanding regarding the asset limitations, and I wish you great success with your remake.

Best regards,
W. Teo"

TEAM 2 (2nd Gardenia & Garden of Charmix):

"Hi xx*,

Thank you for your email :)

Correct me if I understand you wrongly, you would like to have the 3D clothing and enemy plant assets I created for Winx Adventure? If that's the case, I am sorry that I would not be able to do so. These assets belongs to Rainbow Media and I am not allowed to share them. And also, we only accept paid jobs at the moment. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks :)

Cheers,
Matthew

"Hey xx*,

Thanks for sharing the screenshots! They really do look a lot like the original game. Great job! Just be careful with copyright issues, as you never know how strict they might be.

As for creating clothes and hairstyles, you can use any 3D software. Just make sure to keep them low poly while still looking good. :)

No. We're not the ones behind the specialists. We didn't even get a model for them so we had no idea they were in trailers before. The Minigame Garden of Charmix was actually developed by a us but the game was already developed before we began :)

The game’s closure wasn’t exactly planned. Rainbow had told us they’d reach out for more work but that never happened (we were standalone developers hired for the project).

It’s really nice to see people still remembering and caring about the game after all this time. Wishing you the best with your project! :)

Cheers,
Matthew
