If I was in your position I would definitely be a bit overwhelmed (because I was in similar shoes a few times) but communication is always key to be honest. The best option is to always be honest with your feelings,even if they don't feel the same way you can still be friends! I feel as though friends should talk and communicate about their feelings especially towards each other,it can be and there's a high chance it'll get a bit awkward but friendship is an active effort to entertain each other between people in my eyes so if you ask me if you try hard enough you can still adjust to it more and more. Besides I think if you won't be honest than it can kill you inside even futher,I had a fair number of crushes that I never confessed to and it was killing me inside and I was telling myself that I was being st**id and should just tell that person. I think that someone feeling honest enough to be vulnerable and confess such strong emotions is something that this friend might be grateful for even if that friend might or might not feel the same,if they would respect your emotions then go for it. I think if you really are close then they will appreciate the fact that you love them so much and that you just want the best for you and your friendship. Now I admit I'm no Cupid and not the best person in the entire world to give dating advice but most people around me tell me I have a good amount of emotional intelligence and I do want the best for you so this is why I decided to give my 2 cents

To make a long story short: If you choose to be honest and time communicate then you will get to the best possible option and I think your friend would still love you whether it's romantic or not I do not know (I'm a bit oblivious at times) but I hope the best for you and your friendship or even possible relationship

Thank you. I really value this friendship and it's the exact reason I procrastinated the confession.
I also made sure it felt lighthearted. They like cats, so I attached a meme of a cat awkwardly holding a rose hoping to sound less like a confession from a lovesick and more like "i like you but I want you to feel comfortable rejecting me if you don't feel the same".

I confess I wrote the text and took 3 hours to send it. I built the courage then chickened out a few times before closing my eyes and pushing the send button.

If I know them well, the worst case scenario would be them saying "sorry i don't feel the same" and then going back to normal. I really hope I didn't destroy our friendship by doing that. 😥
