Winx Club: The Magic Is Back Reboot

Hii :)

So 3 October is the day the reboot will come to Netflix right?

What do you all think of it?

I have mixed feelings. At first I was very positive about it but I don't like some of the changes they made.
- My biggest problem is Helia is gone :( Helia was my favorite and he was together with Nabu perfect boyfriend material. How can you remove him? Flora is very soft and kind hearted so I think she might be the right one to soften someone like Damien, but still I really don't like the change.
- The animation. I get that they choose for 3D, that's what all kids shows are. But they could have done better. They did the sepcialist so dirty, specially Brandon. That's not even Brandon😖 And Stella. They did Stella dirty too. I like her normal outfit with her 2 ponytails, but the transformation outfit and hair is just not it. Although I am very happy they gave Stella her moon powers back.
Oh and I saw a scene with Diaspro. Not sure if it was real but it looked real, but man she looks so bad too.
- They seem to give Flora more screen time which I am not mad about at all she is my fav, but it looks like they replaced Bloom and Stella's friendship and made Flora and Bloom bff's. So I really hope Stella and Bloom's friendship will not be ruined.
- I like the storyline of Bloom having a twin, and I was kind of excited about it. But it just doesn't 100% feel like Winx anymore. Specially since he replaces Helia.
- I wish they sticked with Bloom's original color blue and didn't add the pink. But that's just a little thing.

I've seen what's already out, and I'm not a fan of it at all.

The show feels very rushed and poorly paced. I'm mostly OK with the redesigns and whatnot (The boys and Diaspro definitely got the short end of the stick), as well as story changes that make sense like Aisha being there from the start, but... Man. You can really tell that AI wrote a lot of the script and it shows.

Some characters rarely get screen time at all... I'm pretty sure I saw someone taking count of this, and Tecna has maybe 10 lines of dialogue for the entire first season. :/ And others just don't show at all! No Helia, no Mirta, no Lucy, no Knut. We're still doing the "all witches are goth and evil" thing too, by the way, which sucks.

Also, there are rumors of ethical concerns beyond AI generated stuff during the show's production. I've heard that they hired mostly interns to work on the show and paid them super cheaply (like 2 euros an hour or something). That's really not okay.

I so wanted this show to be good, and it absolutely could have been, but it's very clear that Rainbow only sees dollar signs when they look at Winx, and didn't hire people who were actually passionate about the series.

That so sad, I didn't know about AI or the poorly paid people. It really had potential but they wasted it. I also don't know why they needed AI and stuff. It's not even a new story, the whole storyline and character is already there (the animated one) So they only needed to rewrite some things but it's not like they had to make a whole new tv show :(

AI is cheaper than hiring real concept artists to do the same thing. I know someone who was training to work in the industry in Australia, and he's said before that it's becoming industry standard to generate AI concept art and then have a person clean it up. :/

Also, if you look closely at the Winx models, a lot of them are re-used Mermaid Magic models. It's especially obvious in the background characters. I know it's cost-effective to do this but dang, they really cut costs wherever they could.

I saw the first episode yesterday and it gave me a huge headache. It has the same pacing as Miraculous Ladybug: too fast, too many characters in the first 5 minutes of episodes... Maybe they wanted to skip the whole introduction from 2004 first season, but it felt reeeally rushed.
Kiko is gone. Helia is gone, I can feel the AI...
I'm also not really fond of introducing Aisha/Layla in the first episode of first season. In the original series, her introduction later in the episode gave her - in my opinion - a very well written background and personality.

Also the new Charmix is hideous... it is soooo obvious it was designed using AI.

The only decent thing is the Trix trio. They are quite similar to the og design.

I agree about the pacing. It's preposterous. I gave up 10 min. into first episodes, so I don't know how it rolls later on, but I'm going to guess, that it doesn't improve much.

I'm not buying them wanted to rush through the begining, to tell the different story later on, cause this is reboot. They can tell the story, they want from the get-go. For me it feels like it's rather that they didn't lock the storyboarding before starting production and that's the result. That plus the mistakes in shot continuity/character placement...
They certainly also didn't lock-in the style since each character looks like from different animation (which also feels like a result of relying on AI).

Also, after seeing screens of Stella's room, and the row of tables in one corner, I don't think they can beat the AI accusations, cause those legs were off in a way a human wouldn't do...

I'm also headcanoning that Layla is the fairy of waves from the original series and Aisha is the water fairy of reboot, because I liked Layla's original story too much to accept the new incarnation over the old one.
