Wow, you had it running there for a really long time, that's so cool! /houra// I wish I'd come back to Finland too but my hopes are not so high :ehmeh:: At least nowaday it's easier to find them scanned on the internet :geek:

natie wrote:I agree with everything you've said. Animation culture in East Asia is totally different so it's no surprise that Winx didn't get much attention there.
In Russia, we also had Sailor Moon, W.I.T.C.H. and Totally Spies. By the way, if I'm not mistaken, all three of these were released in Russia before 2008, which means before Winx came out there. I don't even know if there was anything between their releases and Winx. This may explain the boom of Winx in Russia at that time.

Winx Club really got a perfect timing. Those were the times when we didn’t have such an abundance of content; everyone in the country watched the same TV channels and the same cartoons on them. As I see it, W.I.T.C.H. series was the only real competitor for Winx back then. Sailor Moon already felt a bit outdated in those years, and Totally Spies lacked a good storyline. And I guess W.I.T.C.H. "lost its battle" because it was aimed rather at a little bit narrower audience of teenagers, while Winx managed to attract both very young children and teenagers. Ngl it still makes me sad that W.I.T.C.H. series never got a continuation, even though it was because of Winx Club.

And yes, I agree, that after all Winx was simply very well-made series. It had stylish vibrant visual, great music, interesting storyline — everything was on point. It did feel refreshing and modern. Well, these are speculations of mine. Yet I'm still surprised that the fandom has remained that active for such a long time, because the series has had more downs than ups over the years.

We had many cartoons in Finland but I felt like most of them were aimed more for boys so maybe that's why Winx felt so special for me because finally I found something that I was really into. (But we too had only one or two channels to choose what to watch on the weekend mornings  ) I didn't even have any favorite cartoon before Winx. :') But I didn't know that W.i.t.c.h. was airing before Winx! I read W.i.t.c.h. comics (and I still enjoy them) and I think the comics were published before Winx in Finland but the animation came here kinda late. But the W.i.t.c.h. animation was indeed for older audience, it was darker and I was afraid of many of the monsters when I was a kid (but I still watched it tho) It's funny how many people on the internet are still arguing about which one is better, Winx or W.i.t.c.h. and some of them claim Winx is a copy of W.i.t.c.h. while they're SO different  I didn't know canceling the 3rd season of W.i.t.c.h. was because of Winx! That's sad, I'd loved to see a continuation since the comics continued so far and had many great sagas!

I agree, I love the world-building of Magix, color palettes, character designs, MUSICS (still give me chills in_love_ ) and a long story line with mysteries (which are solved and not left too open), character development and how we get to know the characters better and learn more about the magic dimension through the series. I'm happily surprised too that so many fans are still active <3 Maybe they just love the original seasons so much that nothing can ruin it

You are so right about Jakks dolls' hands and feet! These dolls really do look very elegant! And the fact that they can take different poses makes them even better.

I also like that Jakks released special edition dolls, they looked cool. It's just too bad they released only Bloom in the limited Silver/Gold/Blue Believix lines. Like, I get that it's a limited series, but I still wanted to see other fairies.

Yeah the Lovix line is so well-done and they look gorgeous! in_love_ They did them better than the Sophix line imo. I'm thinking about getting some Lovix dolls later. <3

Yeah you see the difference when you're photographing them: you can make them do more magical poses and they really look like they're doing spells in_love_

I found out there're lots of these special editions quite late and immediately fell in love with them in_love_ Have you seen the Believix Power dolls by Jakks? They kinda remind me of the golden/silver/blue/pink Bloom editions and they're SO gorgeous: every Winx has their own color in_love_ It's sad that the limited edition dolls are rare and so expensive nowadays

Heeeey zao_zao

It's nice to meet you.

Do you collect dolls? in_love_ Do you have any Winx Jakks Dolls?
I have 20 Jakks dolls new in box, but still need a lot to complete the collection :ehmeh:: Dolls in general are very expensive so right now I only focus on my Disney dolls

Oh, I remember for sure that W.I.T.C.H. was my favorite cartoon before Winx. :D I rewatched it for the first time only around 2015 and was surprised by some teenage slang words (at least in the Russian dub  ). Although I liked this cartoon when I was about 8 years old, from those words alone I realized how much it was aimed at teenagers.
Yes, it's a pity that the cartoon didn't continue, but it's good that at least we had comics. :( Several years ago the comics were re-released in Russia in the form of books. I still haven't bought it, but I'll definitely buy the first volume when I have the chance. :geek: I read the comics for the first time around 2015 btw. :geek:

Oh, the music is absolutely amazing and brings so many feelings and memories everytime I listen to it
The world-building and inspiring designs are probably the reason why people still write stories and create their own characters based on the series. in_love_ Winx has a wonderful lore that's not too strict and gives room for imagination.

I agree, the Lovix line looks outstanding with those fluffy outfits! in_love_ The Sofix line looks rather simple in comparison. :ehmeh::

Oh, I was thinking the same thing because I used to love taking pictures of dolls. I got into Monster High and Ever After High dolls later, and I also had a LIV doll that I took hundreds of photos of because she could pose in so many different ways :D

I had completely forgotten about the existence of the Believix Power line! :ahhh: They have incredibly beautiful wings there in_love_
Honestly, when I started googling, I was surprised that Jakks had Winx dolls lines for the next seasons after the fourth one, I didn't know about it. :? Harmonix dolls look great too, even though I'm not a fan of this transformation. It looks even better on the dolls than in the cartoon.

I've found a video with Iginio Straffi in Moscow on YouTube, but the quality is poor :ehmeh:: But you can still see how many different lines of Winx dolls there were

And I'm afraid the automatic translation is not great there. I wish I could add subtitles.
Well, the main point of the video is that in Moscow Winx dolls were much more expensive than in Europe. Compared to Russia, in Italy medium-sized Winx dolls were 15-20% cheaper, and the price of the largest dolls was exactly 50% lower.
According to a shop assistant from the video, the largest dolls (50 centimeters) cost 2,999 rubles, which was ≈€70 in 2010 :?
Mr. Straffi commented "It’s hard for me to accept this. I wish my Winx dolls could be in every family, not just for the rich people".

The ending of the video is quite funny. It says "The store visit was not only disappointing but also pleasantly surprising for Straffi. Barbie dolls, the stars of the 90s and direct competitor to Winx, were not found in the supermarket"
And then there's dialogue
[Voice behind the camera]: But there is a Barbie house.
[Iginio Straffi]: The Barbie house is probably available because the Winx dolls already live there.
