Hello everyone, Hallowinxer/Superpupu is back :)

Postby Hallowinxer » Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:47 am

Hello winxers! zao_zao

Let me introduce myself: I'm Hallowinxer (my old nickname on winxclub online and on the forum was Superpupu) and I’m from Finland. I switched my name to a more international one since Superpupu is in Finnish (it means super bunny) and everyone just called me Super because it was too hard to remember  Well I still like bunnies but I’m also obsessed with all kinds of horror, creepy and gothic stuff (and HalloWinx ofc!!) so that’s the inspiration behind my new name.

My hobbies are singing, reading (I enjoy horror, fantasy, dystopian, ya, bad-vibe books, manga), watching series, movies and anime, photographing, listening to music (classical music, metal, goth, pop), going to concerts and collecting Winx stuff endlessly.

I’ve been a huge fan of Winx Club since I was 8 years old (now I'm 26 :geek: ) and started watching Winx in the middle of the 1st season and when the beginning of the 2nd season was airing in Finland. I grew up with the Finnish dub based on the rainbow version. I collected Winx merch when I was a kid and one year ago I started re-collecting and even started an own winxstagram account because I found other fans’ winxstagram accounts on instagram and found out there’re still so many “older” fans all around the world and that’s super cool! So now I’m fulfilling my childhood Winx dreams <3

I was an active user of the official Winx website since it was based on the 2nd season: there’re no online games and forum back then, only minigames and information about the characters and the Magical universe. I LOVED Kiko’s adventure (the older and gloomier one, where there’re more levels and in the end Kiko’s arriving into the Darkar’s castle), Attack on Magix (you chose a Winx and fought against different monsters but you needed to learn who Winx is the most effective against different monsters), Aisha’s balloon game and magic pets’ volleyball game.

I was also an active user of the official forum, Gardenia park and Winx Adventure. These and Winx Club were literally my childhood! <3 in_love_ I was quite bad at English back then but I was able to chat some basic small talk with my online friends on Gardenia park and Winx adventure. :ehmeh:: I used my parents’ really slow and old computer and sometimes it took 2 hours to load and open Gardenia park!

I spent HOURS on Gardenia park, Winx Adventure, the minigames and the forum. People were always so nice! When the Garden of Charmix launched I was really sad because it didn’t work on my parents’ computer anymore. I was active on the forums (mostly on the fun zone) until it got closed.

It’s been over 10 years and I’ve still been missing Gardenia park, Winx Adventure and the forum so much!! I’m so grateful to every one of you who’ve re-created this Winx website!! This is again a dream come true! <3 :ahhh:

/flowerpower/ And next some lists:
★ Favorite Winx: Stella (I like Tecna and Aisha too but Stella is my number 1)
★ Favorite Specialist: Brandon
★ Favorite Pixie: Amore, Jolly, Discorda
★ Favorite Pet: Kiko, Milly
★ Favorite season: the 2nd is my ultimate favorite, I love the 1st and 3rd too!
★ Favorite movie: The Secret of the Lost Kingdom (and non-Winx related ones: I love the movies of Tim Burton, like Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride and Dark Shadows)
★ Favorite villains: the Trix (I really love all of them, Darcy is my favorite atm), Darkar, the ancient witches
★ Favorite school: Cloudtower
★ Favorite secondary characters: I’m obsessed about Griffin! <3 in_love_ Zarathustra and Ediltrude are also so cool! And Nebula.

Hii! zao_zao I like both your old and new nicknames! :D
Since the forum was closed, I haven't had a proper chance to communicate with Winx fans from other countries. I'm super excited to meet people from all over the world here! :ahhh: This was truly a great feature of the forum back then.

It's so cool that you've started collecting Winx stuff again! Do you have any favorite items in your collection?
Actually, I've been thinking about re-collecting Winx stuff too recently. At least I want a Winx doll. I only had a fake one as a child. :ehmeh::

Hello! zao_zao And thanks! /flowerpower/
Yeah I've been missing the forum SO much!! I remember when it closed and the staff explained "you can still discuss on facebook" and I was really mad because it's not the same AT ALL! Like, facebook is not a forum, everyone can see your name and you have no privaty if you comment on Winx's public posts etc... :cloud: I'm so happy we can re-meet here, this place really feels like home to me! <3

I love the originals mattel dolls, magical minis -figures and Panini and Merlin stickers albums! I had some sticker albums as a kid but had many stickers missing and it kept haunting me till today. Now I've found some complete albums with all the stickers and bought them from ebay and vinted. The albums related to seasons 1-3 are my favorite and most nostalgic /flowerpower/ in_love_ As a kid I had 6 Winx dolls and now I've been trying to find as many mattel dolls as I can. The Charmix, s3 school girl and Glam magix Enchantix lines are my favorites since I had some of the dolls as a kid. I found out there's also Hallowinx line by Witty toys and I immediately fell in love with it in_love_ I also love Winx books and comics and some of them we're even translated into Finnish back then!

I really recommend re-starting collecting! It makes your inner child happy /flowerpower/ The dolls are quite expensive nowadays and I'm afraid they'll become even more expensive in the future since some of them are already really rare so that's why I try to collect as many as possible now. But at least on vinted, Winx facebook groups and thrift stores you can find cheaper ones! Btw the fake dolls are also valuable and kinda rare nowadays  What kind of merch did you have in your country?

Hi again! zao_zao Nice to meet you.

Back in the ~2011 my friends from the forum gave me the nickname "Krol" (it's "bunny" in English) :)

I share your love to the second season! I love that darkness and Darkar scared me so much but I loved it

Hi again and nice to see you here too! zao_zao

Awww that's so cute! I've loved bunnies for even longer time than Winx in_love_ That's why I've always loved Kiko too <3

And that's cool! I love the HalloWinx episode and the episodes where Winxs went to the Cloudtower + when Tecna found the prophesy about Avalon. It was so cool to learn more about the Cloudtower and the witches, and also see the lessons in Alfea much deeper! And I think Darkar is the creepiest of all of the villains and that's why I like him! And he was so hilarious when spying Winxs and roasting them  And his castle and monsters are so gloomy that my gothic heart starts to beat faster lol in_love_ And now I realized I forgot to mention Dark Bloom!! //EHDOHEH/ After seeing her I was so obsessed I was playing with my dolls and all the time someone was hypnotised and turned into a villain

Overall there's so much character development and I learned much more about the Winx girls during the 2nd season (like Musa's past). Aisha and pixies felt a natural part of the Winx right after I saw them and it was so interesting to see Downland, Wildland and the Pixie village and learn about new types of magical creatures!

You're so right. :( They didn't even try to give us a proper alternative. And even though forums as a format for communication began to lose popularity across the entire Internet back then, their words about social networks as a alternative were ridiculous. :cloud:

Wow, Mattel dolls are super rare, aren't they :ahhh: To be honest, I never really liked their faces, but I like how detailed they are! in_love_ Have these dolls ever been sold in stores in Finland?

I'm from Russia and I started watching Winx in 2009 right before season 4 came out. At that time, Winx were at the peak of their popularity in our country! We had tons of merch (both official and unofficial  ) here — dolls, clothes, stationery, cosmetics, sweets, Kinder Surprise toys, books, many different magazines... I even remember hair dryer, camera and other official electronics with Winx

By the way, we also had Panini stickers albums! I never had these albums, but I did buy stickers for them. I still have a few of them and they're like treasures to me. I'll definitely show them later!

Overall, from the official merch I mostly had magazines and figurines. But unfortunately, a lot of my Winx stuff was lost or even thrown away (not by me :cloud: ) many years ago. But it's okay. I still have a couple of magazines, they're at my parents' house. And there may be something else that I don’t remember.

As for my fake doll, I also don't know where's it now and I have only a piece of photo with it in terrible quality. It was Layla Believix and it had a TERRIBLE pungent smell that wouldn't go away.  So maybe it's for the best that it's gone. It didn't smell safe at all. :?

Yeah and I dont' remember for sure but at least I had a feeling that Gardenia park, WA and forums closed so quickly without even a warning so I didn't had any changes to find the people anymore. I tried to found some Winx facebook groups later but it felt like there wasn't any discussion, people we're just posting random pictures and often didn't even give credits to the artists. :(

Oh, I've seen so many Russian Winx cosplayers and artists on instagram and seems like Winx was super popular there! I've been also a bit jealous because Finland is such a small country and I didn't meet any Winx fans there back then (some of my friends liked it for a while but grew over it soon so I felt lonely about liking Winx). But it was really good timing for you to find Winx! in_love_ And I'm amazed about the amount of Winx stuff you had!! :ahhh: Like, a hair-dryer, you could decorate your whole house with using only Winx furniture and items  We had also quite much Winx merch in Finland back then: dvds (seasons 1-3 and 5 and the movies 1&3, they never published 4th season or Magical Adventure on dvd :( Seasons 4-8 we're airing on tv with Finnish dub tho), some novels based on the 1st season, magazines with the comics (they unfortunately cancelled it in 2013), candies, mini figures, stickers, cards, cosmetics and dolls. We had many mattel dolls and I don't even remember how many different linies we had since I was more focused on getting all the dvds and magazines when I was a kid  When I became a teenager I lost my interest in dolls (but not Winx  ) so I didn't even go to see which dolls they had in the stores after the 4th season. Later I've seen some dolls on Finnish online thrift stores and every time I'm like "Wow, so they actually sold them in Finland??" I've never seen fake dolls in Finland, maybe Winx wasn't THAT popular

And yeah the Panini stickers are such a treasures!! :') The artworks in them are pure gold <3

All of the mattel dolls are still not so rare! Like Charmix, magix Winx, dance night, denim and 1st season casual lines are quite easy to find and I started with them. And Bloom, Stella and Flora are the most common dolls from like every line. But for example ballerina and concert lines are rare nowadays.

Do you like Witty dolls and Jakks dolls?
Omg poor Layla, maybe she was prisoned by Darkar for a too long time and couldn't take a shower... And I'm sad for your lost Winx stuff. Luckily it's kinda easy to get them nowadays! /flowerpower/

Hey Hallowinxer, welcome back to the forums!! Ngl I don't remember you from before but superpupu sounds amazing. Your new name is great too, and the story behind it makes total sense.

Yeah, horror and creepy gothic vibes definitely suit the HalloWinx spirit!

It's awesome to see someone else who’s been in love with Winx since the very beginning like me, I started watching when I was 4 and it aired in Portugal, it's crazy how long ago that was and yet I still remember sitting down and watch it on my old bedroom, which eventually was where I also years later would join this website and forum and meet everyone! I relate so much to everything you said about growing up with Winx Club and all the memories tied to those old games like Kiko’s Adventure and Attack on Magix. I spent countless hours on those too, although I only saw Attack on Magix on those vintage coffee shops with games installed, they don't exist anymore but they were common back then in Portugal, and like you, I missed Winx Adventure so much... I don't think I spent a day without logging in to that game except... when, yknow, the old, slow computer loading for hours… yeah, I felt that pain back then. Although I believe it was because of the website, it was very slow and had countless bugs everywhere in terms of the scripting. Those bugs are also on waybackmachine so you can open the console and see more than 2000 error messages in some pages :ehmeh::  I missed the Garden of Charmix release because the website would stop responding and crash my computer.

That's why I rebuilt the website 100% from scratch. Everything you see was redone without a single script from the official old website, but remade by me to the current browsers and being as modern as possible. :)

Creating this website was a huge labor of love. Like you, this place was my childhood, and it’s so special to hear that others are connecting with it just like I did. Rebuilding this wasn’t just for everyone, it was also for me – I wanted to bring back that magic we all felt. I’m thrilled it feels like a good remake to everyone! Your enthusiasm makes it all worth it. /flowerpower/

Also, your favorites are just on point! Stella is my fav again (the season 1-4 one, then I prefer Musa tbh) and I totally agree that the 2nd season is gold. Even though I prefer season 3 and 4 more for the stakes. Darkar and the Trix were such iconic villains, and honestly, Griffin needs way more love in the fandom – she’s fantastic. :)

The forum really was more than just Winx Club fans community. It was a unique place where we could push our creativity, learn something new, discuss Winx non-related stuff in a safe environment.
I hope one day you'll catch up with someone you knew here! /flowerpower/

Oh, I guess the reason why I think that Mattel dolls are so rare is that we've never had them in Russia. In our country Winx Club series began airing in 2008, a few years later than in many other countries, so we had less seasons 1–3 themed stuff in general.

We definetly should create a topic with Winx Club Merch discussion. I'm wondering how our products were similar and what interesting stuff did other countries have. :ahhh:

We also had those magazines with comics and I know at some point it got cancelled too. I don't know exactly when though.
But a few days ago I found out that in September this magazine has started publishing in Russia again. :ahhh:
Paper quality seems very poor, but otherwise it looks interesting. I was thnking about buying it, and a conversation with you makes me think that I should do it.
ImageImage

I'm still wondering myself why Winx Club was that popular in Russia. We've always had a pretty active art community and a lot of dedicated fans. But all my friends in real life also grew over Winx very quickly, I didn't feel alone about liking it only thanks to the online community.

Hallowinxer wrote:Do you like Witty dolls and Jakks dolls?

I like both Witty and Jakks dolls! There also were Giochi Preziosi ones, they looked interesting too.
I like that Jakks dolls have very movable bodies, this is what attracts me the most! I dreamed of getting one of these when they first came out.

In Russia we had only Witty dolls. I'm not sure about Hallowinx line, but we had maaany other ones. Believix, Love&Pet, Sophix, Lovix, City Girl, Charmix... I still dream of them! in_love_ I like their faces (at least those that were until ~2013) and they just make me too nostalgic not to dream.
Also, these dolls weren't like suuuper expensive back then, but definitely not everyone could afford them without a special occasion. :ehmeh:: I still remember a video where Iginio Straffi was shocked and disappointed by Winx dolls prices in stores during his visit in Russia in 2010. :ehmeh:: It was literally on our news.

We still have Winx dolls for sale now, but I don't know what brand of dolls they belong to.
