I have a video uploaded that kinda goes with the above statement, but also a question: will the rugs/carpets eventually have smaller boxes so we can add them in as desired? I wanted to put the heart rug in the corner, but the box for it is too big so I cant. And another question I have, when do you think we can put the small lamps and other small objects on top of the dressers and other places, like the bookshelves?

Hello!![]()
Unfortunately rugs can't overlap because they still have colliders (so the game is aware where the floor is). Colliders can't really touch each other to prevent bugs, like buttons on top of each other or even making the terrain have a "step-up" and acting like a wall you can't walk over. I don't think I'll change this system, even though in theory I can, because then the potential bug reports about "I wanted to delete X rug but Z was deleted instead" will increase a lot, the chances of the wrong rug being selected will be quite high, since it's the colliders doing it.![]()
As for rugs being smaller, yes, in theory there will be more rugs with smaller sizes.![]()
Finally, for the wardrobes/bookshelves, the answer is unfortunately no. At least not for now. The tables are ideal because they were done already considering their surface area in mind and have a clear minimum and maximum height. So the lamps, electronics and plants just check the collider between the minimum and maximum values and, if they're within the valid coordinates, places it on top. This isn't the case for wardrobes or closets, that can have different sizes and different surface width. I can in theory make it work by trying to make the fetch for surfaces more global, as I have done before. But I got a lot of bugs out of that attempt and even ended up with furniture snapping either below or above the room, so it's something that might take longer and is not a priority right now. However, I will try again eventually. I understand the appeal.![]()

Just a last little note: bookshelves will probably still not get any furnitures on top. Because again, the furniture itself is a single 3D item. The colliders make it so that the electronics, lamps and plants do not clip the furniture below but instead hover very very close to the surface of it. Furnitures simply cannot touch each other for the buttons to not break. So it's possible you'll be able to get furnitures on top of tiny wardrobes eventually, but not big bookshelves like the purple one you have there.
Nope, understand entirely. Thank you for clearing this up! It does kinda suck we cant put things everywhere we want, but we dont want bugs either
