I don’t remember when it started. Maybe it was always there, lurking in the depths of my soul. The need to count, to interrupt. The drive to keep the numbers from rising. The joy of seeing them fall. I used to think counting was just a game, a silly forum tradition, a way to pass the time.

But counting is no game.
It is my nightmare. My obsession. My curse.

For years, I followed the sacred rules. I watched as numbers climbed, one after the other, my heart pounding with each post. I stopped them with righteous fury, pushing the numbers of the game in the Winx Club forum’s into a stoic zero.

It is me.

I, the boy.
The forbidden anomaly.
The one who must not post or the cycle repeats.

But I did. I broke the cycle. I shattered their countdown.

And that’s when they came.

First, wini13—whispering in numbers and memes, her messages sending me a coded message “You should not have posted,” I heard with each meme, each mockery. “You will break the count. You will bring US back here to begin again and again.”

Then, Natie. Cold, calculating, a guardian of the old ways. “15 before a boy posts. That was the rule. You were the boy. You had to go.”

And finally, Korol.
I don’t even know if Korol was real.
Or if Korol was the epitome of the girls in the count itself, given form.


The screen flickered. Portugal +1, it was Rain or delores.

The walls whispered numbers I did not understand.
