I really wanted to get into doll collecting but the reselling market is super scary and super expensive - not to mention most dolls are in very poor condition if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for 1 doll

But I still really wanted one set of each of the main 6 and then different outfits for them that I could change, so I looked into dolls that are still on the market but are of decently good quality, and ended up getting Rainbow High Dolls. I never got winx dolls as a kid, I don't remember seeing them anywhere (maybe because I'm in Canada?), so I don't have the nostalgia of the original dolls, and the Rainbow High dolls are really really nice, not to mention they just need some re-rooting of different hair and they look just like the winx girls. I haven't gotten the hair yet to re-root them but I have started making outfits for them, and I will say that the size of them is really forgiving for making outfits, I didn't want to have to work on a super micro scale you know?

But I have found that just holding the dolls, styling their hair, thinking of what outfits I'm going to make for them next, is very therapeutic for me

^Also I started this project before the new doll line was announced lol, I might get some of them if they're nice, but I'm quite satisfied with my customized winx Rainbow- High Dolls

Yes,I agree. The second hand doll market is crazy,like I love them too but who would pay 3000 USD for Tecna and Musa Glam Magic Enchantix when Tecna doesn't have her second pair of wings and Musa has no wings or her bag...(I actually saw this on EBay today,lol)

I used to like Rainbow High dolls but after Wave 5 (I believe Wave 5) of Shadow High I was disappointed,it felt like Bratz in the 2010's all over again...I must say RH did have AMAZING dolls,they are so gorgeous I must say.

I have a soft spot for them, esp the ones with the improved sculpts from around 2007. Did you know the old Giochi Winx sculpts were also made for a Arab doll line called 'Arabian friends'? They're super cute. I think the anatomy works better for them than winx lol

Yeah, the bodies are kind of wonky in the context of the full doll. On the upside, at least the clothes are cute, and because of the bodies being reused from Tanya dolls (iirc), they can be worn by any type of doll. Unfortunately my Flora was the only one that came in her original outfit, which was a ski outfit...not much versatility for dressup there lol. My Aisha came in one of those cheapy lil' basic spaghetti strap sundresses most dollar store dolls wear. I do think it was a Steffi Love dress, though.
