Over the past weeks, many of you noticed that the server was experiencing slowdowns and glitches. We know how frustrating it was to deal with laggy loading times, delays in the forum, and random crashes. Thanks to your detailed reports and the incredible help from our mods and minimods, we’ve tracked down the main causes and fixed them.
Here’s a quick overview of what happened and what we fixed:
We discovered a bug where a glitched quit button in Winx Adventure was sending thousands of duplicate SQL requests every minute, overloading the server if more than one person was connected. This has been corrected and a fast hotfix has been released on the beta.
The forum had an issue with its sessions table – it was storing every login since it was created without ever cleaning up. This was the biggest issue, as it forced the server to cause millions of unnecessary checks every time it would fetch the users online every five minutes. So, every five minutes, it would fetch all the 1857546 sessions and add 300, 400, 500, 600 more depending on the users, creating a huge mess of things and making the website overload! We’ve optimized and cleaned the table to refresh every few minutes, giving a blank state. Don't worry, this won't affect your account or log out off!
General server-side performance improvements have been implemented to make loading times much faster, including more RAM and one new CPU.
Fixed instability caused by overloaded processes that were leading to random crashes.
Reduced the stress on background updates so that the server remains stable even during peak hours.
These fixes should make your experience much smoother, and you’ll notice faster response times across the website, forum, and game.
We want to thank you for your patience and support during this time. Without your bug reports and feedback, it wouldn’t have been possible to identify these issues so quickly.
