I had several of the graphic novels and read them so much they started falling apart  I really want to collect them again; been looking around online to see if I can find them, and checking the local thrift stores in my area. No luck so far, but hopefully I'll have some soon!

Did you guys know that W.I.T.C.H. actually had a short-lived manga series? It hasn't been translated yet, but the artwork is gorgeous.
Some of the manga art!

Oh my,YES! I remember that,I really liked the first issue of the manga but it appears it got worse over issues. It was still drawn beautifully, though I didn't like the romantic drama. I never liked the romance in the manga and comics. I only liked the romance in the TV show

It's likely that they didn't have the same amount of love and effort put into it, since the manga was mostly an afterthought to try and market to Japanese/SEA audiences. I wonder why they thought the graphic novels wouldn't do well there?

I'm not the biggest fan of Caleb and Cornelia's romance at all, but I did enjoy seeing the other romances happen (i.e. Caleb and Elyon, Matt and Will). It's good that they depicted both healthy and toxic relationships since a lot of pre-teen girls read the comics.

I think it's because the comics DO HAVE a manga influence but it's very Italian. It's clearly from Europe,it would stick out like a sore thumb and it would feel off for W.i.t.c.h because the girls are supposed to be relatable. Most people from Japan probably wouldn't relate much to European people because they have different problems and issues.

I do think they still did a cute job though! Don't get it wrong or twisted,I still somewhat enjoyed the small parts I read.

While that is true, a lot of european-centric anime have become pretty popular! Black Butler is one of the biggest examples I can find. A lot of American cartoons are very popular over there too, and have been for a while. It makes me wonder if maybe it would've been better recieved if they didn't mess with it.

I mean one of the main hooks of the whole franchise was how relatable the girls were,W.i.t.c.h. mostly targeted older tweens and they usually want something they can relate to,I DEFINITELY wanted something I could relate to. I do think it could have been popular but if one of the main points to sell the franchise won't work in another country then it probably needs to be changed or adapted with slight differences. I don't think they could've sold it if it was so aggressively European then it would've been unsuccessful probably (not that it sold well anyways LOL)
