Currently working on something

Postby juleic1123 » Thu Feb 19, 2026 10:12 am

Hey everyone!

First and foremost, I know the Pets Snow Ride highscore is still not announced, but my PC is dying (the fans connectors stopped working so it overheats in like 15 minutes), so I'm still slowly doing the picture and the announcement! It will still be announced today, but probably later this afternoon!

But it's not why I'm doing this topic: I'm currently working on a few things for the website itself that you might enjoy soon enough! I don't know how fast I can finish it, but hopefully, in a few weeks' time, you'll be able to switch between the first version of the season 4 website and the current one, allowing you to choose your favorite theme and use two different layouts!

Image

I plan on also redo the lost version, unavailable even through waybackmachine, of the season 3/4 website transition, where Gardenia Park was released. However, I do want to clarify this doesn't mean GP is coming back, it's only for the website. Also, new pages won't really be created for space purposes, so categories that ceased to exist won't be recreated, it's more of a "skin" on the website than an actual full remake. So Winx Coins will still be Winx Coins and not Yellow Coins, and the news are still going to be universal even if their appearence is different for the 2009 website.

This will take several months to be fully implemented, but the 2010 version should arrive sometime soon!

Also, since I'm using this topic as a sort of update, I do have to ask... how do you feel about adding an option to donate to the website? This would come with no beneficts whatsoever (no extra coins, no redeem code, no clothes, nothing) or forced upon you or even appear as a pop-up, it would be something you had to willingly decide. I'm honestly 100% against asking for money, so I'm avoiding this possibility, but I just spent my last savings on a new fan only to realize it's the PC itself that is broken and I'll return the fans and buy a new one instead with my mom... and I'm dry to the point my mom is paying for the website's server for the first time in 3 years.
I feel really bad about it and I wanted to find a solution until I get a job, like perhaps allow people to be able to donate a maximum of 5€ if they feel like it. Tell me how you feel about this and again, no benefits or anything would be given to you, it would be charity basically

First and foremost, thank you for your hard work on the website so far, and I'm so sorry to hear about the PC breaking down (I went through something sliiiightly similar with a dell laptop, and that still gives me nightmares).

But yes, I'm totally fine with you adding a donation button. Go for it! :D And well, try not to feel too bad about it either, because stuff happens. We understand. :happycopains_:

I think that's a great idea! Many bigger fan projects are funded by fans nowadays since the servers costs are so expensive. So you don't need to feel bad about it, you're not forcing anyone /flowerpower/ :happycopains_:

Great news about the upcoming updates!

Speaking about the donations, I think that it would be completely okay and fair since the website exists because of your enormous efforts, and all of that for free for us. At least it could help with the the maintenance costs.

It came to my mind, that in the og website there were the rainbow coins, and to get them one needed to pay real money. Did they exist because otherwise they couldn't fund the website or did they just get nice extra cash from them? Anyway, that's another reason not to feel guilty about: the og website also had "funding" option (ok not totally "funding" since one couldn't get all of the accessories and furniture without using money). You're so generous because we don't need to buy rcs anymore :happycopains_:

First of - yes add the donation option. This is one of few actually safe spaces on the internet (and without id upload nonesense...), so it eould be nice to help You keep it.
(Though You might need to add a very visible disclaimer that's a fan website, to be on a safe side.)

Secondly, are You able to fix your computer (give to be fixed)?

Thanks a lot for all the kind words and the support, everyone, I really appreciate it. I think there is no one more against this than me, in all honesty. I really dislike any type of real money being used, especially on websites where the main idea is to play and relax. I just don't like the idea of using real money for things :problem: :(

Still, I have more shame in asking my mom to fund my hobbies, so I went ahead and implemented the donation option on the Top Up section (kinda like how the original site had the RC Coins), and I’ll make a proper announcement about it soon. I limited the options to it being 1,99€, 3,99€ or 5,99€. It's also (I'm not sure, need to check before the announcement) that I was able to set it as a one donation per day!

Unfortunately my PC is still not fully fixed, the fans' connection to the laptop are still broken, and the kind of PC that can handle everything I do is pretty expensive right now, so I’ll be waiting for a good sale to grab one. I had my eyes on one with an absolute beast specs that would be wonderful for both working in WA and also my animations, but it was an end of the line product and I missed it by a day.
Also, because of this issue with my PC I’ll be a bit less connected for a while until I find one (I'm about to leave to take a look on an electronics store).

I hate that I have to take regular breaks to let the laptop cool down. It’s extra annoying because I end up reopening everything every 45 minutes to 1 hour instead of working at my own pace. :cloud:

Maybe it can be healthy to take those breaks? ;) But yeah pc prices are crazy rn. (I'm praying my laptop will go on forever, cause while I used to say that I'll get new one for TES 5, at this point neither I, nor bethesda, I guess, don't care about it...)
So were You able to get spare parts?

It is healthy, yeah, and I can’t deny that in a way it actually helped a bit. I’ve been drinking more water and at least standing up regularly instead of just slowly merging with my chair xD So physically speaking, it probably did me some good. But from a programmer’s perspective… it’s kind of a nightmare. :ehmeh::

When I’m in the middle of writing something in PHP or JavaScript, I usually have the whole logic chain mapped out in my head. Like which variables I’ve already defined, what function I’m about to call next, what needs to be validated, what gets returned, what connects to what... but now, whenever the laptop overheated, I completely lose that mental flow.
So when I come back 45 minutes later, I either forget exactly how I wanted to implement something, or I end up re-reading the whole script to reconstruct what I was doing and what I planned to call later on. In the end I actually advance much less than if I had just worked continuously. :(

And no, no spare parts! I actually ended up getting a brand new computer /houra// It’s a massive upgrade compared to my old one and it's literally one of the newest on the market. It has an NVIDIA RTX 5080 8GB RAM, 32GB RAM and came with a 512GB SSD, which I’ve already expanded to 2TB by adding my old SSDs from the old computer.

It’s basically a very modern medium-high end laptop which is able to run all AAA games in high to ultra quality (honestly just high-end now with the extra storage), render videos in After Effects at incredible speeds, the screen is fully designed for people that might work with design (144 fps, 1440 quality, 100% sRG with an IPS panel), and it should last me way longer. I got it for 1199,99€, which was already a big discount from 1499,99€. I explained to my parents in detail why it was the best balance between quality and price, especially since some 1599€ or even 1799€ models were actually worse spec-wise. They ended up making the sacrifice even though their initial budget was around 950€ /flowerpower/

I’ll sell my old laptop and hopefully give them back some money for the trouble and hopefully once I find work I can pay them back by paying the bills and help with anything they might need.
