Well if it's close to that, I'm still happy. :D

So, have You been reading something new/fun recently?

Alexarion wrote:Oh, sounds very interesting! She must put a lot of time in it  in_love_

Sadly Etsy turned into a weird half real artists and half scam side. As far as I know there´s no other way to sell besides Etsy  :ehmeh::
The only other website I can think of is Instagram. She could gain more popularity through Reels for example. But maybe your friend is already doing that.

Oh she does. She has insta, but I think she only films herself for pain tutorials. I think I can say that she is pretty established at this point and spends good part of the year flying world and giving classes.

Alexarion wrote:Did you see the recent Ghibli Trend? People put photos on them on an AI generator to get a custom Ghibli picture. It makes me really sad seeing it. Hayao Miyazaki himself said that he dislikes AI and that it´s an insult to art itself.

Yeah, I've seen it, and honestly it doesn't really look right
It looks like some trying to trace the original and still failling at it. Especially, that in actuality no two Ghibli films look the same. People working on them changed possitions and they always pushed themselves, so trying to homoginise it into one "style" just gives You that off-kilter effect of "generic anime" that they've got. It also looks awfully flat.

But yeah, I think Ghibli could get after them for illegal use of their materials and infornging on the brand recognision by assiosating the "product" with the Ghibli brand...

Alexarion wrote:I´d like to leave Instagram too but I´m too much intertwined with the people there. I have a little artist community there I communicate with and I like to share my art. It´s not easy but there´s sadly no other app

But be happy about leaving Instagram! Also Tiktok. Glady never had that. Wouldn´t start now

Yeah, I used to have one too, but those were mainly people, who migrated from dA. Still, it felt way more loose and less spontanous.

Still, I just realized, I don't see people's artworks anyway cause the algoritm pushes first other stuff and punishes You for not posting constantly. :( And as result I actually stopped posting altogether... Plus the idea that I now need to Glaze, or Nightshade the pic first isn't helping...

But, it's nice to hear You have a better experience!
Do You have the community gathered around art or fandom? And also are You sure, that your friends there don't have also other medias?

I kinda hope, that I might find some people back on old channels or on bluesky.

Also I'm halfway in getting rid of fb - as in I reached out to half of the people there asking about alternative communication methods : D (also deleted all posts and photos, but the avatar one). But goodness it takes ages!

Yeah, I am not starting with the clock app now either

Alexarion wrote:Some weeks passed. Did you get into dancing again?  zao_zao

Not much I'm afraid, though I've been watching Abracadabra vid, not for the Gaga's chorography though. There is this moment, when dancers do the pirouet and I was trying to learn from their performance, cause I can't do it for the life of me. Though it seems I'm progressing with balet anyhow. :D I've basically managed to do front split on both sides, so there's that.

But how about You? How's the dancing going and did You find any new song You like to dance to?

Alexarion wrote:That would be the ideal case. Sadly the reality looks different as you said. You know, the inner city here is so crowded, there are a lot of empty shops since years. There are so many opportunities and a lot of people here asked for more parks, trees, anything. What do we get? Another hotel. My city isn´t that big. We´ve several hotels. And they build even more. For what? There´s no demand. Wasted opportunities in general. I feel like the money goes where it´s not neccessarily needed  :ehmeh:: But that´s a huge topic.

Same, same. Like they are building either badly design for the purpose office buildings (which are then 3/4 empty for years, if not for ever), or shoebox-size flats, which are also not what people need :/

Alexarion wrote:I´ll try to do that next time!  :D

Next time You go for a walk  but like seriously You can track what style are most churches, or old houses in your town and area, for example. ;) Also maybe your town have like a historical, or cultural association, which organises tours for locals to show some lesser known, but interesting spots, that You can take?

Alexarion wrote:I see! Thanks for telling me! I´ll check it out!

Welcome, though it's a cute, but not that great story, though. So don't go out of your way for it.

It seems I'll be continuing with reading unfinished stories, since it seems the author of Frieren is in bad health and needs to retire. I didn't want to check, if they clarified the issue, the author are dealing with. I feel like it's soo not my business, but I really wish him best. :(

I think now the reasons of my fear for long series are clear...

You described it perfectly. And yeah, you´re right. I mean you can definitely recognize Hayao Miyazakis Artstyle but if you for example look at Chihiros design and this from the Nausicaä, they definitely don´t look a like. Thank god that´s something AI can´t recreate yet. True passion and emotions.

I really hope they do. There should definitely be restrictions for AI. As far as I know, youn can only do the Ghibli AI trend if you purchase in ChatGPT. Still.. that´s not enough :ehmeh::

It´s a mix I´d say.I´ve some irl artist friends who for example really enjoy Winxclub. But besides that it´s just Anime/Manga art community you could say. Some are on other websites or apps but not all. So that´s why I rather stay at Instagram. It´s easier for me to connect.

Do you know the song Fantastic Baby from BIGBANG? I gotta know that song through Instagram and I was people doing a little choreo to a specific part that was sung by an korean-actor called Choi Seung-hyun. Yes, I think You did...
No, I think nothing new. I mean I read new volumes of the ones I've been reading, but right now it's a dead season for me and I need to wait till May to get some more :(

Yeah, she's doing pretty well.
The answer for juleic is no. ;)
But, I'm not her only friend and I don't think You can find me through her anyway, soo.... it's drakonaria. Though I don't know how often she's on insta now. But still it's the same handle for her etsy and website, so I'm sure You can find her projects anyhow.

Why thank You. ^^ And You are right!

Also people forget that Miyazaki wasn't even the only director at Ghibli. Till 2018 there was Isao Takahata, who made, for example: "the Grave of Fireflies" and "the Tales of the Princess Kagyua", which is in my opinion the most visually stunning of them all, or also departed Yoshifumi Kondō, who directed "Whispers of the Heart". Or Goro Miyazaki, who directed one of my fav "From Up on the Poppy Hill". And those are only directors, they are also character designeres, key animators, ect...
So it's not like it's even one person's style here...

So chatgpt company is clearly proffiting of straight forward piracy, great...

It's more like a twitter, but without toxicity. And also it does show You posts from people You actually follow. But I can't say I've been usingnit all that much. I guess I wasn't using that much social media at all recently...

Alexarion wrote:I had Facebook a long time ago but I felt like there was nobody so I deleted it. But digital cleaning up always feels good. It can sometimes be too much and overwhelming. So good choice  /flowerpower/

I had it since around 2007? So ages, and most of my highschool and uni collegues were there, as well as people I've met in other circles (usually older than me). So trying to get in touch with them and find out where I can find them now really takes time. But I just want to get off as many meta properties as possible, since I don't want to support company that is actively hurting people and is resposible for at least two genicides...
And thank You. It's not that easy, but it does feel good.

Oh damn. And Frieren is a really popular Manga :( I had that also some years ago. Had some series where I was so interested in but it ended out of nowhere like there was no continuation for whatsoever reason. I feel you

About the story - adults, especially father - the character sucks, and I think we could have less of his POV in a story, that is from his daughter perspective... I had similar off feeling with male protagonist in one other Jirō Taniguchi manga, so there is that...

But I do stand behind "My brother's husband". It's sweet little tale.

Yeah. It feels almost like some cold irony, since the story is about mortality, legacy and value of living in the presence. :(

Was it Nana?

Alexarion wrote:Show meeeeeee  :P

Soon!!!

Alexarion wrote:Oh so you´re still wearing a coat? Here it´s light jacket weather. I love it. But at the same time I struggle a lot because I have pollen allergy. Nature is against me  :cloud:

I wore coat maybe once through the whole winter... I am wearing a "velvet" bomber jacket the whole time, but I want to wear something lighter than a jersey jacket! Think is the weather just can't stabilize, one week it's 20°C, then it plummets streight to 5°C for few days, and then its 15°C at most. :( And now it's below 10°C till Tuesday, plus wind and rain. It's ought to get to 20°C in tenday though...

Oh my allergies are no fun! Is there anything You can take, that actually works for You?

That´s right! But it´s quite common that there´s one person standing out even though everyvone know they´re not the only person creating the product. I wonder if Miyazaki´s the one who invented the art style  Sure, it doesn´t look the same but you can see similarities.

Shame on me, I never watched The tales of princess Kaguya. I definitely have to do that! The artstyle and the animation in general definitely looks different compared to other movies. It looks like an animated fairytale book.

I´m watching From Upon A Poppy Hill right now. I never saw that movie before. :ehmeh::

I recently watched Arrietty and I really loved it :D

I heard that there are voices who speak out against the Ghibli trend! The One Piece director for example. Maybe there´s some hope left. What´s your favorite Ghibli Movie?

I read that ChatGPT needs a huge amount of electricity for even one questions. It´s a waste :ehmeh::
I mean, makes sense if it gives me a solution to my questions that quick but still. Wouldn´t have guessed it´s that much.

It´s they way I´d the describe my style you know? Little bit semi realism manga/anime art I don´t know. It´s what you can see in my art corner :D Most of the time I do stuff free hand but sometimes I like to do fanart. That´s a good idea! But sadly the inner city here is often crowded and I don´t want people to approach me. I have a little bit anxiety when it comes to that. I want to draw in peace where nobody can see me  And right now I´m full headed in new creative projects so I didn´t inform myself about the architecture here yet

That´s a shame. Well,.. I think there are a lot of male mangaka who create weird stories, portray women or girls in a weird way or pay them less attention even though they´re part of the story....

Yes it was Nana for example :D I loved the Anime even though it was a bit dark. But I liked that it is more grown and not a typical highschool anime. The end in the Manga was pretty open (was there even an end?). Unpopular opinion here: The Anime felt like both Nana´s connected romantically but because times were different there was no way they could end up together. I always rooted for them lol.

Oh I also have a bomber jacket! It´s oversize and I looove it :D

Same here! The weather is a bit wild now. I think since nearly two weeks I switch between light jacket or just sweater/hoodie. It´s warm in the sun but cold in the shade. I still appreciate the sun finally coming out! I used the opportunity to go for some walks and listen to the birds :D

Yes, I´ve a whole kit  I´ve nasal spray, eye drops and allergy pills. But on some days my allergy is so heavy that all of this together doesn´t help :? I´ve my methods to get through it somehow. Drinking a lot of water also helps a bit.

The style predates Ghibli, same as the cooperation between many of the studio members, when working under different companies/directors, so what people call "ghibli style" actually kinda seems like an evolution from an earlier influence. Nausicaä of the Wind Valley is Miyazaki's original manga, so it's probably best to assess his style and honestly it looks very much like most of the late '70s and '80s animes... That's not to disparage Miyazaki, just to point out, that people really cling too much to the idea of a singular creator in a group work settings.
And honestly, that's just not fair to the rest of those skilled and dedicated artists. :(

Princess Kaguya is very different and is very much like a fairytale in the story. And the fact it lost to big hero 6 in oscar run is painful...

I think people, who use such blant copyright infrigment are people, who don't see art as worth the respect and effort, so unless his voice is heard by lawmakers, I'm not going to hold my breath unfortunately. :cloud:

Honestly, I rarely have faves. I usually just like things for particular reasons. ... So "my neighbour Totoro" is dear one to me, cause of my sister, I like the first half "Up from the Poppy Hill", when whole student body works to safe the old building, and so on... but my brain just can't pick one

But what are yours?
Also I'm glad I made You watch ones You haven't seen before.
And yeah, Arietty is pretty cute. It and vague recollection of the Borrowers series makes me curious about books, but haven't read any yet...

I'm pretty sure by the time I joined fb came through at least two major redesigns  (for one, at the begining it was only for students from particular uni, or something like that :D) though I guess yeah, I've been there just bit before it truly blow out...
And thank You, and You're right, I do feel like it means I'll be missing a lot - I see it when I log into fb once in a week, but I'll manage. Honestly, I'm glad this forum is up, so I can connect to people that way. ^^

So when did You join fb and where You ever active there?

Thank you! I came further but there´s one move in the choreo where you have to swing your arms slow and smooth. I don´t get that part

Thank You. /flowerpower/

Oh my goodness, ikr! Not that I tried dancing, but just looking... Hope You'll get it though!

Alexarion wrote:That´s a good idea! But sadly the inner city here is often crowded and I don´t want people to approach me. I have a little bit anxiety when it comes to that. I want to draw in peace where nobody can see me   And right now I´m full headed in new creative projects so I didn´t inform myself about the architecture here yet

Oh that's bad. But I really get it and honestly same. I can get on plein air in some lone, peaceful spots, but cities are stressful. Maybe in such case - reference photos and sketch at home? Then You won't need to worry about the weather and can do it in a slower period. ;)

Alexarion wrote:That´s a shame.

Yeah that's absolutely true! There is this one volume manga: "Memories of Emanon" and it was just such men writing women story, that I couldn't get how it got so much praise...

I've almost got into that manga, cause the artstyle is gorgeous, but my sis warned me, cause she watched the anime. And your unpopular opinion is absolutely correct!

Alexarion wrote:Oh I also have a bomber jacket!

Do you have any allergies?

I like mine too, but I want to wear something else! :D
Same about the weather and I love going out listening to birds and looking for blooming flowers and trees!

Oh my, it really is a kit ! Are You maybe able to get a heavier (prescription, steroid?) medication for the worst moments?

As far as I know only very, very mild dust allergy, so not really. Hope You don't have any others though?
