Hay Lin's kite was flying against all of the laws of physics, Cornelia hearing the tree knocking the window and calling her in the middle of the night... These were just so magical moments.

I believe it was called "W.i.t.c.h A Year Before" I read it and it was a fun read! /houra//

Oh yeah THAT'S the one I was talking about!! :ahhh: I love these all kind of speculative "what if" comics. It was super interesting to see how the W.i.t.c.h. girls were already connected to their powers before they knew who they are. I also loved the comic where the Oracle showed the girls different versions what could have happened if they had chosen not to be the guardians. In the end their fates were intertwined.

You can watch the tv series on youtube, they had both seasons in English there. I've also seen the comics online on some illegal websites... But I keep seeing the comics also on vinted and other thrift stores.

I want to join your coven! 8-)

And oh my god, I'm soooo happy you're discussing the special issue "W.I.T.C.H. A Year Before" here!!! I looove it so much!!! Every time W.I.T.C.H. comes up in conversation with someone, I start yapping about this special issue and nobody ever knows what I'm talking about!

I actually bought this special issue second-hand after rewatching the cartoon again in 2017 (I first read the comic around 2014, and I actually saw W.I.T.C.H. for the first time before Winx, back in 2008 or so!). That's when I had another huge wave of love for W.I.T.C.H. I didn't really know what this issue was, I just wanted to have some W.I.T.C.H. merch and saw a good deal. :)

And oh my god, this comic "A Year Before" gave me goosebumps too! I never imagined it would be that amazing! Spoiler alert ahead for those who haven't read it...

By the way what are you guys' opinions on the reboot comics? I think the artstyle is basic but cute,I didn't enjoy the writing that much and I heavily disliked the character design and the changes made especially to Taranee. I feel like it's not bad but not that great. It definitely has huge potential and it seems like the people who created it actually had fun behind the scenes but it has room for improvement.

I loved W.I.T.C.H. as a kid and still do now! I had several of the graphic novels and read them so much they started falling apart  I really want to collect them again; been looking around online to see if I can find them, and checking the local thrift stores in my area. No luck so far, but hopefully I'll have some soon!

Did you guys know that W.I.T.C.H. actually had a short-lived manga series? It hasn't been translated yet, but the artwork is gorgeous.
Some of the manga art!

I've been wanting to check them out, but like with most reboots (incl. the recent winx reboot), I had a feeling I wouldn't enjoy it very much. I'll probably still give it a look, but I hope they didn't make any drastic changes to the girls' personalities!

Oh my,YES! I remember that,I really liked the first issue of the manga but it appears it got worse over issues. It was still drawn beautifully, though I didn't like the romantic drama. I never liked the romance in the manga and comics. I only liked the romance in the TV show

It's likely that they didn't have the same amount of love and effort put into it, since the manga was mostly an afterthought to try and market to Japanese/SEA audiences. I wonder why they thought the graphic novels wouldn't do well there?

I'm not the biggest fan of Caleb and Cornelia's romance at all, but I did enjoy seeing the other romances happen (i.e. Caleb and Elyon, Matt and Will). It's good that they depicted both healthy and toxic relationships since a lot of pre-teen girls read the comics.
